BIKE STATIONS AT THE MAIN STATION

Our bicycle stations located near the north and south entrances of the central station offer a total of 1,040 parking spaces for bicycles.

BICYCLE STATION NORTH

Up to 440 bicycles can be parked in the station in the eastern pedestrian tunnel of the main station. Entry and exit is via Poststraße.
After parking the bicycle, one can exit the station via the side passenger turnstiles directly into the connecting tunnel under the platforms of the station.
The station is protected by access control and can only be entered with a valid ticket or card.
To convert a day ticket into a weekly or monthly pass, first park the bicycle in the station and then insert the ticket into the pay machine.

BICYCLE STATION SOUTH

The Bicycle Station South is located on a former underground parking deck and offers over 600 parking spaces. The station has been open for you since 2018 and was awarded the German Bicycle Prize 2020 in the category “Infrastructure”.

Entry and exit is via the street Hinterm Hauptbahnhof or the station forecourt south. After parking your bike, you can leave the station via one of the two passenger turnstiles and either go directly to the pedestrian passage of the Central Station or back to the station forecourt south.
To convert a day ticket into a weekly or monthly pass, first park the bicycle in the station and then insert the ticket into the pay machine.

In addition to numerous regular bicycle stands and ADFC-certified double-deck parkers, the station also offers generous parking facilities for cargo bicycles as well as bicycles with attached trailers.

The station offers a pump and tool station for minor repairs and provides a service area with a sink, bench and lockers.

The 18 lockers (each 395 x 460 x 400 mm (WxDxH)) can be booked via www.bikeandridebox.de and also have charging facilities for e-bike batteries (230 V socket, max. 600 W).

Frequently asked questions
How can I pay with Autopay?

To pay the parking fee for your parking session, you can choose from the following options:

1. Before the exit

Enter your licence plate number at the pay machine and pay by EC-/Giro- or credit card.

or

2. After leaving within 48 h.

3. Automatic billing on exit

You can also have your parking sessions billed automatically when you exit the car park: To do this, register at www.autopay.io before you leave. Enter and save the licence plate and your credit card in your profile and activate automatic payment for the licence plate. You will then also find your receipt in your profile.

The monitor at the exit shows the payment status and also reminds, if necessary, of the subsequent payment within 48 h by displaying a red exclamation mark.

Please note that in accordance to the General Terms and Conditions of Parking, further charges will be made after 48 h after exit without payment.

How can I charge my EV at the EV charging stations?

The prerequisite is registration at www.autopay.io with entry and saving of the licence plate number and a credit card.

Connect your EV to the type 2 connection of the EV charger using your own cable.
Scan the QR code on the wallbox or log in to your Autopay profile and enter the charging station ID under the menu item “Charging”.

Can I leave my vehicle in the car park for longer because I am on holiday, for example?

The maximum parking period is 3 weeks in accordance with the parking conditions.

Longer periods must be requested. Please contact us in that case. Please send us an email before starting the parking process:

Is it possible to store my trailer, roof rack, set of tyres or other items in the car park for a short time?

Placing and storing objects is prohibited.

How do the bicycle stations work?

Drive in:

  1. Place your bike on the ground loop so that you hear a continuous whistle.
  2. Press the yellow button on the entry terminal so that an entry ticket is issued.
    If you already have a pass (monthly/weekly pass), hold it in front of the terminal reader.
  3. The passage for bicycles will open and the adjacent turnstile will be unlocked. Push your bike through the opening as you go through the turnstile.
  4. Place your bicycle on a free stand and lock it with your bicycle lock. Do not leave any loose accessories, bags or the like behind.
  5. Optional: entry or day tickets can be converted into a season card (weekly/monthly ticket) directly after entry. To do this, the bicycle must be parked in the station. Only then can the ticket be converted at the pay machine. If the bicycle is not parked in the station, the converted ticket and card is immediately blocked.
  6. ve the station through one of the turnstiles and enjoy your day!

Exit:

  1. To get back into the station to your parked bike, insert your card or ticket into the terminal at the people turnstile or hold it in front of the reader to unlock the turnstile. Important to know:Access is only unlocked for tickets/cards that have been used to park a bicycle in the station.
  2. If you use a day ticket, pay for it at the pay machine (cashless) shortly before you leave.
  3. Once the ticket or card is paid, place your bike on the ground loop at the exit so that a continuous whistle sounds.
  4. Insert the ticket or card into the exit terminal.
  5. The passage for bicycles will open and the adjacent turnstile will be unlocked. Push your bike through the opening as you go through the turnstile.

Important for season tickets:

Please ensure that you always sign in with your season card on entry and sign out on exit, as the facility is equipped with an attendance check to protect the bicycles.

My bike station card has expired - is it possible to renew it?

Cards can be renewed at the pay machine.

To do this, your bicycle, which you registered with the card, must still be at the station. The renewal is retroactive from the time the card expired.

While parking in the car park, my vehicle was damaged.

The same public law regulations apply as in the public road space. Please report the incident to the police.

As a car park operator, we can only be held liable if the damage was caused by our facilities or by our employees. Of course, we will be happy to support you within the scope of our possibilities.

I have caused damage.

You have to report any damage. It Is the law. Fahrerflucht (Hit and Run) is a crime under german law.

If the parking garage and/or its facilities are affected (e.g. oil stains), please report this to support@parken-in-karlsruhe.de and call our emergency service on 0721 / 9819110.

In the event of damage to another vehicle, please remain at the scene of the damage

until you can inform the injured party of the damage and/ or call the police. Even for minor damages, you might otherwise face accusations of hit and run.

Can I use the car park with my trailer, camper van or with my truck?

The parking of motor homes, trailers, trucks or other special types of motor vehicles, as well as unregistered motor vehicles is not permitted in any of our parking areas.
